If you're planning an ecotourism trip focused on wildlife and high-quality photography, stop what you're doing: you've just found the perfect destination. The Meeting of the Waters It's not just a poetic name; it's the true wild heart of Brazil.
This area where the Cuiabá and Três Irmãos rivers converge, in the Pantanal region of Mato Grosso, is world-renowned for being home to the largest population of jaguars on the planet. For those seeking the thrill of spotting this majestic feline in the wild, there is simply no better place on Earth.
At Yara Eco Safari, we turn this quest into an unforgettable expedition. Our Pantanal Package Focused on the Meeting of the Waters, this is your gateway to an unparalleled river safari, meticulously designed to maximize your wildlife viewing time and ensure an immersive and transformative experience.
What Makes the Meeting of the Waters Unique?
The region’s fame is no accident. The Meeting of the Waters has unique geographical and biological characteristics that attract wildlife in a distinctive way, creating the perfect setting for large predators.
The Perfect Habitat for the Jaguar
The confluence of the rivers creates a labyrinth of floodplains and dense riparian forests, which serve as the ideal hiding place. More importantly, the extreme abundance of prey along the banks—such as capybaras and alligators—ensures a plentiful supply of game for the big cats. According to global conservation organizations such as the Panthera, ecosystems with this density of prey are vital for sustaining populations of big cats.
Our team’s focus on this region ensures that you’ll not only see the jaguar, but also watch it hunting, resting, or even swimming in the flowing waters—rare moments that make the entire trip worthwhile.
Yara Eco Safari's Pantanal Package: 5-Day Tour
Our itinerary was designed by local experts to maximize our time in nature, always seeking out the best lighting and the best photo opportunities.
Day 1: Arrival and Immersion in the Transpantaneira
The adventure begins with a departure from Cuiabá at 7 a.m., heading toward the famous Transpantaneira Highway. This scenic highway, stretching over 140 km, is a safari in itself, with dozens of wooden bridges and a constant view of alligators, curassows, and capybaras. It’s the perfect introduction to unparalleled flora and fauna of the biome.
Day 2: Intensive Search and River Photography
A full-day river tour, departing at sunrise and returning in the late afternoon. We use fast, safe boats to navigate the waterways and maximize our time on the water. The focus is total: our guides are natural trackers and know exactly how to read the jungle’s signs to locate the big cats before anyone else.
Day 3: Exploring the Meeting of the Waters (Hotspot)
The key point of our Pantanal Package. We spent the whole day inside the State Park, exploring the global “hotspot” for jaguars. In addition to the big cats, this is when you’re most likely to come across noisy families of giant otters and the jawbones reach their highest point.
Day 4: The Black Corixo and New Wonders
On this day, we explored the Corixo Negro, a secondary natural channel that offers a different, calmer, and more secluded setting. The dark waters and dense vegetation greatly increase the chances of spotting more shy and rare migratory birds.
Day 5: Farewell
After one last morning of contemplation and a hearty Pantanal lunch, we returned to Cuiabá, taking with us a collection of spectacular photos and memories that will last a lifetime.
