Have you always dreamed of exploring the world's largest floodplain, but have questions about the logistics? We completely understand. A Safari in the Pantanal It is an intense, immersive adventure that requires meticulous planning to ensure the best sightings of Brazilian wildlife.
At Yara Eco Safari, our daily schedule is designed with surgical precision to align with the times when the animals are most active. From breakfast in the early morning hours to our journey upriver, every minute counts to ensure your experience is magical and rewarding.
To satisfy your curiosity, watch our explanatory video and check out the detailed guide below on how our daily safari works, with a focus on the region’s superstar: the jaguar!
The Routine: The Safari Starts Early
Nature doesn’t wait. To catch wildlife at its best, we follow the sun. That’s why our schedule starts right on time. At 5:30 a.m., the group gathers for a hearty breakfast. After all, a morning on the river requires plenty of energy and extra attention to detail.
Then, at 6:00 a.m. sharp, we set off! We traveled upriver by boat toward Encontro das Águas State Park, one of the most precious and densely populated sanctuaries in the Safari in the Pantanal. The crisp morning air, the mist lifting off the water, and the symphony of the first birds create a spectacular atmosphere.
The Big Spotlight: In Search of a Superstar
During the tours, there are many wonderful things to photograph and much to admire, but we keep our main focus on finding the true “superstar” of the biome: the majestic jaguar. This species sits at the top of the food chain, and spotting it walking along the riverbanks or hunting in the water is, by far, the most coveted moment of the entire trip.
Our guides, with their trained eyes and in-depth knowledge of the area, know exactly which sandbars and river bends to visit to maximize your chances of spotting the big cat in a completely natural and safe way.
The Surprising Diversity of Sightings
Although the jaguar is the main attraction, the Safari in the Pantanal It is a constant feast for the eyes and the camera lens. The richness of this ecosystem allows you to encounter a wide variety of animals on a single river cruise.
While cruising, it’s very likely (and common) that we’ll come across playful families of giant otters, peaceful groups of capybaras bathing, and imposing alligators patrolling their territory. And it doesn’t stop there! The trees and beaches are always teeming with life. If you look closely, you’ll spot enormous giant storks, perfectly camouflaged anacondas, and a literally endless number of rare and colorful bird species.
