Testimonials
What they say our visitors
Publicado em Tripadvisor Cameron HVerificada Finally found the giant anteater!!! Last year we visited the Pantanal with Gustavo to watch jaguars, and the one thing we didn't see that was at the top of our list was the giant anteater. So we had to come back to try again for 4 days and we finally did it with Gustavo's help. He really put in the effort to make our anteater sighting possible. Up super early in the dark and into the night to make sure that we saw all that we wanted. He was very knowledgeable about the area, and you know he's great when he doesn't know something and spends the time to figure out the answer for us instead of just making something up. Plus, Gustavo is just the biggest angel. We all loved hanging out with him, plus it seemed like all the other guides and the owner of the lodge we stayed at (Pouso Alegre) had nothing but good things to say about him. Always smiling and having a good time. Plus he appreciates the birds. Huge bonus points there.Publicado em Tripadvisor Taylor RabeVerificada 15/10⭐️ Yara Eco Safari = unmatched It is no secret that I am Gustavo’s biggest fan. He is exceptional, truly — the kind of person who changes how you see a place, and maybe how you see yourself in it. I first visited the Pantanal in 2023, and I had a wonderful guide, one I was genuinely grateful for. But it wasn’t until I spent a week with Gustavo in 2025 that I understood what I’d been missing all along. That first jaguar safari, the one I’d treasured for two years, suddenly felt like the opening page of a much bigger story. Gustavo’s knowledge isn’t just impressive — it’s the kind that comes from a lifetime of devotion, the kind you can’t fake and can’t teach. I brought over 20 wildlife biologists from Yellowstone National Park with me, people who spend their entire careers around wild things and are not easily impressed. Every single one of them left raving — about his expertise, yes, but more than that, about the way he carried himself. His professionalism. The quiet optimism that seemed to radiate from him no matter the hour, the heat, or how long we’d been waiting in silence for something wild to appear. I knew, the moment we left, that we’d be back. So we returned, and this time we asked for Gustavo and Yara by name, chasing the one creature that had eluded me for three long years: the giant anteater. Three years of trying. Three years of failing. I told Gustavo how much this one sighting meant to me, and he simply said he was up for the challenge — and then he did something I didn’t expect. He didn’t just deliver the anteater. He made every single moment leading up to it feel sacred, like the whole journey was building toward something worth waiting for. We spent ten days in the Pantanal with Gustavo, and I can tell you honestly — I will never set foot in Brazil again without reaching out to him first, without asking him to show me his world one more time. He is kind. He is passionate. He is brilliant in a way that words don’t quite capture. He isn’t just the best guide I’ve had anywhere on this earth — and I’ve traveled a lot — he has become something rarer than that: a friend. Someone I believe will leave this world better than he found it. And Yara Eco Safari is so much more than an agency chasing profit. They are educators. They are protectors of place and community. They love wildlife fiercely, and it shows in everything they do. I couldn’t recommend them more. 15/10, without hesitation, from the bottom of my heart.Publicado em Tripadvisor JoleneVerificada Highly recommended Gustavo was a top-notch guide. Very professional, knowledgeable and held high regard for the safety and comfort of the wildlife.Publicado em Tripadvisor Aalt KVerificada One of the best wildlife experiences in the world! I had an unforgettable experience with Gustavo from Yara Eco Safari in Porto Jofre, Pantanal. Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The boat, hotel, food; it was all amazing! A huge thank you to Gustavo. He was much more than just a guide—his passion, knowledge, positivity and dedication made this the best wildlife experience of my life. He always knew where to find the wildlife, shared fascinating insights about the Pantanal, and made sure every day was special. We were lucky enough to see 17 different jaguars in 4 days! And ofcourse also all the many other beautifull animals. If you’re looking for an authentic and unforgettable Pantanal safari, I highly recommend Yara Eco Safari. And if you have Gustavo as your guide, you’re in the best hands possible. His experience and enthusiasm truly made all the difference. Thank you, Gustavo, for an experience I’ll never forget! See you again! Publicado em Tripadvisor pgujVerificada Lifetime experience helped by the passion and energy of the guide, Gustavo! It was such a trip of a lifetime: being guided by Gustavo, who is also a biologist very passionate about wildlife in the region, I had some of the best wildlife viewing ever! It felt that we were actually ‘with the jaguars’ (12 different individuals over 2.5 days) observing them over a period of time, and even getting lucky witnessing two kills which was so powerful to witness. Of course, there were multiple other animals to observe. Couldn’t recommend Yara Ecosafari and Gustavo highly enough! I will be back for sure.Publicado em Tripadvisor Niels MVerificada Best wildlife experience ever My Pantanal trip with Yara Eco Safari was one of the best wildlife experiences I have ever had. Everything was well taken care of; transportation, accommodation, but what set it apart was our guide Gustavo. Gustavo is extremely passionate about the animals and you could really tell he cares a lot about them. He is part of a jaguar identification project, so he immediately recognized every jaguar we encountered and he could tell us about their history, families, etc. That kind of context was super interesting. We saw lots of different jaguars and a huge variety of other animals as well, but it never felt rushed, we could spend as much time with each animal as we liked. I honestly cannot recommend Yara Eco Safari enough and I am already looking forward to my next trip with them!
