What to expect

An immersive experience in the heart of the Northern Pantanal, combining nature photography, wildlife viewing, and environmental conservation.

Over the course of four days, we’ll travel along the Transpantaneira and navigate the rivers of Encontro das Águas State Park in search of the Pantanal’s incredible biodiversity, with a special focus on observing and photographing jaguars, giant otters, and Pantanal birds.

The workshop will be led by biologist and wildlife photographer Marina Gomes and biologist, tour guide, and photographer Gustavo Gaspari, both of whom are passionate about conservation, photography, and Brazilian wildlife.

Itinerary

Day 1

8:00 a.m.: Meeting in Cuiabá

Departure by van toward Porto Jofre via the famous Transpantaneira Highway.

Along the way, we’ll make several strategic stops to observe and photograph the wildlife and rich biodiversity of the Pantanal, including birds, mammals, caimans, and natural landscapes.

Evening: Opening Lecture

Lecture on:

  • Ecology and Conservation of the Pantanal
  • Behavior of Pantanal wildlife
  • Nature and Wildlife Photography Techniques
  • Ethics in Conservation Photography

Starring Marina Gomes and Gustavo Gaspari.

Days 2–3

The day starts early with breakfast.
Two days of river expeditions through the rivers that run through Encontro das Águas State Park.

Activities:

  • Observation and photography of jaguars
  • Photographs of giant otters in their natural habitat
  • Birdwatching in the Pantanal
  • In-car photography techniques
  • Interpreting Animal Behavior in the Field
  • Conversations on Conservation and Documentary Photography

Day 4

Breakfast, bird watching at Pousada Piquiri, and return to Cuiabá. We returned transformed, carrying with us the vibrant spirit of the Pantanal.

Marina Gomes, 34, is a biologist, wildlife photographer, and environmental educator. Passionate about birds, birdwatching, and Brazil’s biomes, she uses photography as a tool for conservation and connection with nature. Her work documents biodiversity and inspires environmental preservation through images, courses, workshops, and experiences focused on nature photography and environmental education.

Gustavo Gaspari

Gustavo Gaspari, 33, a biologist from São Paulo, has been passionate about animals since childhood.

With a Master's degree in Ecology and Evolution, he worked for years as a guide in the Pantanal before founding his own company.

It seeks to connect people to nature, making them feel closer to animals through photography and social media, as well as offering authentic experiences in the Pantanal.

1 – What is the best time to visit the Pantanal?

The best time to visit the Pantanal is between May and November, when the water levels are lower, which attracts animals to areas closer to the rivers. However, it is possible to visit the Pantanal all year round and enjoy the beauty of the floods as well.

No. Our tours are designed for both photographers and nature lovers, with or without photography experience. If you enjoy nature and a bit of adventure, you will certainly enjoy the experience.
During the dry season, there are not many mosquitoes. However, it is always recommended to carry insect repellent and wear long clothing for greater protection.
Yes however, we suggest opting for a private tour, which offers more comfort, privacy and flexibility in terms of schedules.
The ideal length of stay depends on the type of experience you are looking for. For a more complete experience, we recommend a tour lasting between 4 and 8 days. However, we also offer shorter tour options, which are an excellent opportunity to get to know the Pantanal.
During the rainy season (November to March), temperatures tend to be higher and rainfall is more frequent, while in the dry season (April to October), temperatures are slightly milder, especially at night.
